Referred to as the 'The Great Yorkshire Forest', Dalby Forest is located on the southern slope of the North York Moors National Park. Covering 8000 glorious acres of mixed woodland, the forest is a haven for outdoor recreation and boosts one of the UK's finest UCI World Cup class mountain bike courses.
This weekend witnessed the 2nd round of the 2011 British XC Mountain Bike Series competition and my good friend Andrew and I were there to photograph the event. Accompanying us was our mutual friend Dan; who boosts enough skill, stamina and madness to compete. The 5km course is extremely tuff and with circuit landmarks including Worry Gill and Medusa's Drop - riders gain the right to ride and assess the course for a few hours the day before!
Photography wise; the light was simply magical. Most of the UK bathed in above average temperatures for April and the bright sun broke right through Dalby Forest's mixed canopy to perfectly highlight the riders' moves through the tight single track trails.
