During the winter of 2010, my parents' village of Aston acquired a fresh 2 acre plot of land (green arrow) to create the first patch of allotments in nearly 100 years. The Aston Allotment Association (AAA) was formed in a very democratic fashion in the Bowls Clubhouse on a cold November evening and the founding 19 members elected an executive board. Once a neglected sheep field, the plot is now being rapidly transformed into a workable group of allotments. This photo-essay is work in progress and I'll update you at each stage through to first crop yield.
