Earlier this month I was invited to photograph the Paul Hamlyn Foundation's prestigious Awards for Artists. Recipients include 5 visual artists and 3 composers and now entering its 22nd year, the £50,000 award has become well respected in the arts community.
Visual responsibilities for the day was to capture the recipients' official group portrait, individual portraits and to document the evening reception hosted at PHF's lovely headquarters. It is a joy to meet such illustrious creative forces and with the 2015 Awards being my 6th year generating the pictorial narrative, the list of who's posed for my camera and lights is something I'm rather proud of.
Acclaimed writer Jeanette Winterson was the Award's keynote speaker this year and her words were nothing short of incendiary. I urge you to read the full transcript - just click the preview at the end of this post. Focused, vital and delivered with grace and power.
Congratulations again to Brian Irvine, Karen Mirza & Brad Butler, Emma Hart, Peter Wareham, Adem Ilhan, Tina Keane, Will Holder and Patrick Staff (unfortunately Patrick was absent due to commitments in Los Angeles).
