Ice Music Festival

Every year since 2006, world class musicians and ice sculptors gather at the Ice Music Festival in Geilo, Norway. Created by Terje Isungset & Pål Medhus, along with Bill Covitz (one of the world's leading ice sculptors) & Helder Neves (visionary stage & venue architect) the festival has gained a strong international reputation, offering a unique aural experience.

Joining the team in 2010, I documented the ice's journey from its 'birth' in frozen local mountain lakes, through its formation into instruments and finally being played in live performances and audio recordings. I now play key roles creating the official website icemusicfestival.no + promoting & managing the press & media interest.

It is impossible to know in advance what the music will sound like because the weather conditions determine the quality of ice. The acoustic properties produced by the ice change radically with differences in air temperature. Series was shot on a mix of Canon 5D3 & 5D2 with available light.
